Strategi Komunikatif untuk Meningkatkan Keterampilan Berbicara Bahasa Inggris Mahasiswa Perhotelan

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi strategi komunikatif yang efektif dalam pengajaran bahasa Inggris untuk meningkatkan keterampilan berbicara mahasiswa LPKN di bidang perhotelan. Fokus utama penelitian ini adalah penerapan pendekatan komunikatif yang selaras dengan tuntutan industri perhotelan, sehingga membekali mahasiswa dengan kompetensi bahasa yang praktis dan kontekstual. Meskipun pendekatan Communicative Language Teaching (CLT) telah banyak diterapkan dalam konteks pendidikan bahasa secara umum, penerapannya secara spesifik di lembaga vokasi perhotelan masih terbatas. Oleh karena itu, penelitian ini menawarkan pendekatan baru yang lebih realistis dan aplikatif, dengan memperhatikan kebutuhan dan tantangan spesifik yang dihadapi oleh mahasiswa dalam dunia perhotelan. Metode yang digunakan adalah deskriptif kualitatif, dengan pengumpulan data melalui observasi langsung, kuesioner, dan wawancara mendalam dengan mahasiswa semester dua di LPKN Training Center. Hasil kuesioner menunjukkan bahwa sebagian besar mahasiswa menghadapi tantangan dalam berbicara bahasa Inggris, khususnya dalam konteks profesional, yang disebabkan oleh keterbatasan kosakata, rendahnya rasa percaya diri, serta kurangnya kesempatan untuk berlatih komunikasi nyata. Hasil wawancara mengungkapkan bahwa kegiatan pembelajaran lebih banyak melibatkan presentasi dan kerja kelompok, namun belum memiliki strategi komunikatif yang terstruktur. Berdasarkan analisis data, strategi efektif yang teridentifikasi antara lain simulasi atau role-play, pembelajaran berbasis kasus, dialog interaktif, penggunaan media digital (misalnya video percakapan dan aplikasi berbasis AI), serta pembelajaran kolaboratif berbasis tugas. Temuan ini berkontribusi pada pengembangan pendekatan pengajaran bahasa Inggris yang berorientasi pada komunikasi dan lebih sesuai dengan kebutuhan industri perhotelan.
