Abstract

Pasar media digital telah banyak menyasar anak usia dini sebagai terdampak. Pemandangan dimana anak cenderung lebih banyak berinteraksi dengan media digital menjadi hal lumrah. Penelitian terdahulu banyak memaparkan dampak negatif yang dapat mempengaruhi perkembangan anak usia dini jika akses terhadap media digital dilakukan tanpa pendampingan orang tua. Pendampingan dan pendidikan yang dilakukan orang tua dapat dikemas menjadi program yang disengaja dengan memanfaatkan media digital yang ada di rumah untuk digunakan bersama dengan anak usia dini. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui upaya pendampingan yang dilakukan orang tua terhadap anak usia dini dalam penggunaan media digital. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian adalah studi kasus terhadap orang tua yang memiliki anak usia dini 5-6 tahun di kabupaten Garut, dimana pengambilan data dilakukan melalui observasi dan wawancara untuk mencari tahu secara mendalam terkait upaya pendampingan orang tua terhadap anak usia dini dalam penggunakan media digital. Temuan dari penelitian ini menujukkan bahwa pendampingan dalam menggunakan media digital dilakukan dengan memilah dan memilih konten yang tepat, orang tua meluangkan waktu untuk melakukan pengawasan, menerapkan aturan yang konsisten dan melakukan  upaya-upaya kreatif dalam menggunakan media digital. Beberapa kendala muncul selama pendampingan seperti anak terlalu lama mengakses media digital serta kesibukan orang tua sehingga menghambat optimalisasi pendampingan.
