Studi Kasus: Kecemasan Berbicara Bahasa Inggris sebagai Bahasa Asing

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi faktor-faktor kecemasan berbicara bahasa inggris sebagai bahasa asing. Penelitian ini secara khusus berfokus untuk menganalisis alasan ketidak terlibatan siswa dalam kegiatan berbicara dikelas bahasa inggris.Penelitian ini menggunakan desain penelitian studi kasus dengan pendekatan kuantitaif . Data dikumpulkan melalui wawancara individual. Wawancara diberikan dalam bentuk pedoman wawancara semi-terstruktur yang didistribusikan melalui google docs dan disebarkan di salah satu flat form media sosial, mengingat karena pandemik Covid-19 yang belum selesai. Hasil pengumpulan dan analisis data dibuat menjadi beberapa tema. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa keengganan mereka untuk berpartisipasi dalam kegiatan berbicara di kelas bahasa inggris bukan tidak menyadari nilai belajar bahasa inggris, kemalasan, atau kurangnya minat dalam bahasa inggris, tetapi karena mereka tidak yakin dengan kemampuan yang dimiliki, takut akan evaluasi negatif dari rekan-rekan mereka, dan takut dibanding-bandingkan oleh rekan-rekan mereka.
